Another Embarrassing Moment... and How AI Can Save You Time

Ever have one of those moments you just wish never happened? One I had took the cake…

Picture this.

Many years ago, while staying at our caravan in Miami Caravan Park, I needed to use the public toilet for a Number 2.

After flushing the toilet, I go to open the door, and the door handle breaks clean off in my hand!

I’m locked in - the cubicles have floor-to-ceiling walls, so I can’t even climb out. There’s no-one else there so I have to wait until a kid - about a 14 or 15 year old walks in.

Mortified, I asked him for help. Unfortunately there was nothing he could do so he reports it to the front office.

After what felt like an eternity, the maintenance guy comes, drills out the lock, and finally frees me. I thank him, step out, only to find a whole crowd of onlookers waiting to see who was trapped inside!

The shame! I walk away sheepishly with my head down, trying to avoid eye contact, but everyone is staring, smiling, and even laughing.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, a story of my ordeal is written in the caravan park newsletter!

My kids, reasonably young at the time, let me know I had shamed them as well!

Speaking of mishaps, I recently wrote about Sarah's excellent time management skills, which made her more effective than Tom, who struggled in that area.

Curious to understand how this impacts others, I asked ChatGPT to quantify the difference in productivity. Individuals who use AI and have strong time management skills can increase their productivity by 20-30% compared to those with poor time management.

Imagine that, simply because you have your time in check and know how to leverage AI, you will be miles ahead.

Why such a big gap? It comes down to a few key things:

  • Higher Automation Efficiency: Organised workers like Sarah are better at identifying repetitive tasks that can be automated, leading to significant time savings.

  • Better Decision-Making: With structured workflows, they can make faster and more accurate decisions based on AI insights, cutting down the time spent on non-essential tasks.

  • Improved Task Management: Sarah seamlessly integrates AI into her existing systems, which boosts her ability to prioritise tasks and avoid being overwhelmed by her workload.

Besides that, being 20-30% more productive than your peers in challenging market conditions gives you a significant commercial advantage…

To get the most out of AI, you need quality prompts. It’s like giving AI the right fuel to go the distance.

But why reinvent the wheel every time? Catalogue your best prompts!

My most popular prompts are in a keyword text expander I use, while all of my best prompts are in a simple Excel spreadsheet with three columns: Name, Prompt, and Category.

This way, when I need something, I’m not starting from scratch - I can get a quality response quickly.

The point of today’s newsletter is to reinforce the significance of combining good time management with AI.

Do it right, and you get the triple whammy of automation efficiency, decision-making, and task management. Without it, you run the risk of being left behind.

Want to talk about maximising your productivity through AI and time management? Let’s chat! I can show you how to leverage that extra 20-30% uplift.
